Exilis Ultra 360: Clinical Experience

Exilis Ultra 360 is the first-ever technology that combines radiofrequency and ultrasound to effect significant volume reduction, skin tightening, body contouring, facial rejuvenation and face lifting. Many years of research and development have led to the development of Exilis Ultra 360 – the only device of its kind that simultaneously applies radiofrequency and ultrasound.

Thanks to its built-in cooling, Exilis Ultra 360 is a pain free and safe therapy. It is able to precisely and efficiently target the desired tissues. As a two-pronged treatment, it can cause fat cells to die while tightening the skin simultaneously. Exilis Ultra 360 is extremely versatile and comfortable. It is also non-invasive. It can be used to treat all parts of the body, attending to specialised needs.

Before going for your first Exilis Ultra 360 treatment, drink plenty of water the day before to keep yourself fully hydrated. Fat cell apoptosis is a result of radiofrequency treatment, and proper hydration is required to flush out the dead fat cells and toxins. The amount of water to drink will vary from individual to individual. Speak to your doctor for advice on the amount of water you should take if you are unsure.

It is also important to cleanse the skin thoroughly before the treatment. Avoid applying any cosmetics on the area of treatment.

During your first consultation with your doctor, he/she will discuss on the areas of your skin that need to be treated. The doctor will review your medical history and explain how customisation is done using Exilis Ultra 360. Those who have metal implants and IUD devices will not be able to undergo radiofrequency.

The doctor will advise if the treatment should be customised for removal of fats tissues or skin tightening. The area of treatment will be marked out. It will be close to the size of your palm, with at least 1 cm of fats.

During Treatment
At the start of treatment, the doctor will place a grounding pad opposite the treatment area (on your back) to ensure deeper penetration and safety. The patient will then lie down comfortably, and ultrasound conductor gel or mineral oil will be applied liberally on the treatment area. This enables the treatment to be efficiently completed within 30 minutes.

During the treatment, the patient can feedback to the doctor on his/her comfort level so the doctor can adjust the treatment accordingly. Beginning at a lower temperature, the doctor will gradually increase the temperature and power. He/she will try to reach the maximum temperature of 40-42 degrees (usually) within the first minute. The entire treatment is painless.

The doctor will glide the applicator and apply gentle downward pressure continuously in circular motions to avoid discomfort from excessive heating. Simultaneous radiofrequency and ultrasound energies are delivered to the skin through the applicator. The device can tailor the temperature and power to each individual’s tolerance level at the treatment area. Energy is delivered to various depths of the targeted tissues in a controlled heating and cooling process. The cooling function enables radiofrequency heat to be driven deeper into the skin while keeping the surface cool. The cooling also helps the patient to feel more comfortable. It is set to mid-level first before being adjusted downwards to the lowest level of cooling to heat fats. Towards the end of treatment, the cooling is turned off for about 4.5 minutes. When the cooling is turned off, the heating focuses on the superficial layer of the skin to resolve skin laxity. Over a sequence of treatments, the skin will tighten and the fat layer will decrease.

After the treatment, the skin may have a warm, natural pink hue which will subside very quickly. As there is no down-time, you can resume your daily activities immediately after the treatment. Continue to rehydrate for at least 72 hours after the treatment to flush out dead fat cells. Results will show after 6 months as it takes time for the collagen to build up.
